3 pounds Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
1/2 cup brown sugar
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 T fresh lemon juice
1/8 tsp salt
7 macaroon cookies
6 T chilled butter
1/3 cup toasted almond slices
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350F degrees. In a large mixing bowl toss apple slices with 1/3 cup flour, 1/4 cup brown sugar, lemon juice and salt. Pour into a 9×11″ baking dish.
In a blender beat cookies until coursely crumbled. Mix with remaining flour and brown sugar. Cut in butter. Texture should be moist, yet course. Last, stir in nuts and pour mixture over apples. Bake until apples are tender (1 hour).
Delicious with vanilla ice cream!
