Welcome to Fit to Indulge, where you will find musing of a nutrition grad wildly passionate about all things food, and bursting at the seams to share my enthusiasm. I find that my calling is in sharing the pleasures of cooking, eating and living healthfully–and that certainly does not exclude dessert. I have equal affection for Swiss chard and chocolate alike. Often fancying myself an amateur foodie, wannabe wine connoisseur, future Julia Child, fitness fanatic, chocoholic, and bookworm, who’s been bit by the travel bug!
Recently graduated, I am currently dabbling in nutrition consulting, leading cooking demos, and working as a contributing editor for Registered Dietitian, Jackie Newgent’s, next cookbook. I hope one day to be publishing cookbooks of my own.. while hosting a Food Network show, writing for Fine Cooking magazine, working on cool gigs like ‘food styling’, and maybe eventually earning my place as a Chopped panelist.. because who doesn’t want to taste for a living? Then one day I will marry a cheese farmer, open my own farm-to-table restaurant and live happily ever after, tending to my herb garden. It could happen.
Physical fitness is also a huge part of my life and crucial to leading a healthy, balanced lifestyle. I love to run and find beauty in being outdoors for every season. If you don’t enjoy running, I would challenge you to find something that raises your heart rate that you do enjoy. Being active is key, get creative.
Thanks for visiting and I look forward to sharing more about myself and having great foodie discussions. Please feel free to comment or ask questions. Don’t be shy. This is a community, not a soapbox.
Food philosophy: I believe that enjoying good food is essential to living well. Meals are meant to be savored–shared around a table with the people we love. Cooking does not have to be complicated; the key is simple, quality ingredients. Strive to eat natural, whole foods. Enjoy foods that make you feel healthy and strong. Indulge in foods that feed the soul.

I enjoyed reading about you. You are very a very inspiring woman. I wish I had the drive to run like you do. I feel good about going to the gym several times a week for the last month. When I am done working out the jacuzzi and hot tub are my reward to myself for a job well done. I haven’t lost any weight yet, but just knowing what I’m doing is good for me is exhilerating. I enjoy hearing more encouragement on your sight again in the near future.
Paul made the best coleslaw tonight I’ll have to get you the recipe.
Have a good evening, talk to you in the AM.

Wow, you are very interesting to read. I work in the media in Pittsburgh and we have 2 big races here a year. The Great Race in September and Pittsburgh Marathon in May. The publication and website I work for, TribLIVE.com which is the website for the main newspaper here…..we make a training video interactive for each race every year. We have some expert runners in the area that run the course with me and a camera, its a lot of fun. Your enthusiasm for running and personality would fit right in!!
I am so glad that I found your blog. You are absolutely gorgeous and I’m glad you were able to turn your life around. How amazing it is to take a trial in your life and turn it around into a life career.
So glad to find your blog!

Hey, I’m from Seattle too! I just found your blog via twitter and was excited to see another Seattle-ite.
So, I am at the fitness club running on the only available treadmill and this means that the only TV show to watch while exercising is “New Day” and not the TV with ESPN…anyway, that worked out for me!! I am very please to have seen you on the TV today talking about fresh foods and exercise! I am a PE teacher at Black Hills High School and have a daughter who wants to attend SPU next year and possilbly major in Nutrition also. Am also very passionate about exercise and good nutrition…I am going to share this blog with her.
Most importantly, I can use your blog to show my students about your important fresh food alternative to diets, fads, etc…Keep up the great work!! Please write to your fans about the need for kids to stay fit; many are diabetic, very sedentary, obese or overweight- at best!
Nice job!
